Collection: Peter, Plymouth
Working from Nomad, his well kept inshore vessel, Peter fishes along the Plymouth coastline using an innovative, ultra low impact technique known as the disco method. Instead of towing dredges across the seabed, he sets specialised pots equipped with soft LED lights that gently attract scallops inside. This quiet, precise approach leaves the seabed entirely undisturbed and dramatically reduces bycatch. Peter’s fishing grounds are areas he knows intimately, returning to the same patches only when he’s confident they’ve had time to recover. By relying on light rather than force, he is able to harvest clean, high quality scallops while protecting the ecosystems beneath him. Each haul is a result of careful planning, patient night work, and a deep respect for the waters he’s fished for years. Through his commitment to sustainable innovation, Peter is helping to shape a gentler, future focused way of scallop fishing along the coast.
