Based in the picturesque Lyme Regis harbour, Ali is a dedicated commercial scuba diver who works from Grey Mist, his trusty 26ft vessel. He dives in the protected waters of Lyme Bay, a unique area that has been free from dredging since 2008, allowing the local marine life to flourish. Ali takes great care in hand-selecting only the largest, most mature scallops—ensuring they've had time to reproduce, supporting the future of the species. With a deep respect for the ocean, Ali carefully plots each dive on detailed charts and allows each area to rest for several years, giving the seabed a chance to regenerate. Through his sustainable approach, Ali helps preserve the delicate balance of Lyme Bay’s underwater ecosystem, ensuring that it remains abundant for generations to come.
