Wylde about….Markets.
We’re not doing anything new.
But we’re not, though, are we?
I mean, for literally thousands of years, we humans bought and sold our food at markets.
Supermarkets were only invented in 1948.
They’re an aberration*.
It’s the market - that direct relationship between the person who produces the food and the person who eats the food - that throughout the great tract of human history has actually been the norm.
Think of the Ancient Agora of Athens. The Roman Forum. Or Istanbul’s Grand Bazaar.
But of course it wasn’t just food and money that was exchanged at the best markets; it was information too and, candidly, a bit of gossip - how do I best stuff these dormice, will this bread be ok for my guests tomorrow, did you hear what Alcibiades has gone and done now etc?
I’ve always wanted Wylde to be the closest online approximation of that sort of bustling, thriving noisy market.
That’s what led us to Wylde Tribe.
The idea is that Wylde Tribe is the place where Wylde customers come together to share what they're cooking, swap ideas, ask the questions nobody else will answer ("how do you spatchcock a chicken?"), show off their plates, and discover what's good this week.
So do head on in.
Post a photo, start a conversation, ask a question, drop a tip.
Because, in the end, the best food communities aren't built by experts - they're built by communities.
And that’s exactly what we are.
*an aberration that has cost us our health, the health of our planet and the livelihoods of producers. A lose-lose-lose, you might say….
