Wylde about....Susana.

Wylde about....Susana.

“It’s crazy to eat almonds from California,” Susana told me.

It’s impossible to disagree.

It was of course the Spanish who took almonds to California.

But it was the Moors who took almonds to Susana’s native Spain where - for centuries - they have positively thrived.

If you’ve ever tasted a Spanish almendra, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about.

And if you haven’t, then you’re in luck.

Working with a chap called Alejandro in the Valle de Lecrín between Granada and Almuñecar, Susana is now listing organic Spanish almonds – of all sorts – and almond butter on the market.

They’re genuinely amazing. The team in the Wylde office went absolutely crazy for them over Friday night drinks.

But that’s not all.

Because she's listing organic pistachios too!

These totally delicious nuts are grown by Violeta and Gumersindo on their regenerative farm just outside Guadix.

Roasted at a much lower temperature than usual, they retain all their natural creaminess and flavour. They're just so damned impressive.

And if you’ve not yet tried Susana's extra virgin olive oil, you really must. Her family have grown olives in Jaen since the late 1800s when her great grandparents planted the picual variety.

Produced without any herbicides or pesticides, the oil is exquisite – and jammed with over twice as many polyphenols as you’ll find in pretty much any other quality oil.

Trust me, this is all truly brilliant produce and I can’t recommend it to you highly enough.

It can be dark on these December days.

Why not let in a little Spanish sunshine?

Nick

PS – all the nut packaging is 100% plastic free. It’s made from potato starch and paper.
