It was a little restaurant in a back street not far from where we lived. They specialised in paellas and other ‘arroces’. The food was fabulous. But the thing I remember best was the sign outside the door with the opening hours on it: ‘Mañanas – hasta las 1600.’ Yep, you read that right: ‘Mornings – until 4pm.’ If nothing else, 6 years in Andalucia taught me that folk work on different rhythms. But these differences aren’t just national, or even regional. They’re highly personal too. They depend on your own situation, your life stage, and the beautiful uniqueness of ‘character’. So in the grand tradition of test-and-learn, we’re running a trial. As of this week – and for the rest of October – we’ll be opening our market from 7pm on a Tuesday. The market will then continue to be open as usual until 2pm on a Wednesday. Obviously not everything will necessarily be on sale immediately, as fish in particular will only be available once when they've been landed (obvs). But you’ll be able to go in and buy from our producers at your leisure, knowing that you can always add to that order as and when new produce is listed. So, if your life rhythm is well suited to shopping in the evening - perhaps even with a glass of something in hand - do look out for our email this coming Tuesday. And together we’ll work out if Gloria was, in fact, right all along. Nick
